Guardian Home Program in Oregon
Our Guardian Home Program allows select families to partner with My-T Fine Doodles & Poodles by providing a loving home for one of our breeding dogs. Guardian dogs live full-time with their guardian family while remaining part of our carefully planned breeding program.
This program allows our dogs to enjoy life as cherished family companions while helping us continue raising healthy, well-tempered puppies for future families.
Most of our guardian families live within driving distance of Hillsboro and the Portland Oregon area, although we occasionally work with families throughout the Pacific Northwest.

Guardian Family Responsibilities
Because our guardian dogs represent the future of our lines, we seek families who share our commitment to exceptional care.
Guardian families agree to:
-
Provide a stable, loving home
-
Own their home and maintain a secure fenced yard (some exceptions apply)
-
Avoid dog parks, dog daycares, and off-leash areas that may expose the dog to unnecessary risks
-
Use a mutually approved veterinarian
-
Carry pet insurance throughout their contract
-
Maintain an approved diet, grooming schedule, and routine wellness care
-
Cover all normal costs of dog ownership (food, vet care, grooming, training, insurance)
-
Communicate openly with us about health, temperament, or changes in behavior
-
Have dog available for breeding appointments when requested
All expectations and responsibilities are clearly outlined in a written contract for full transparency.

Our guardian dogs enter the breeding program once they reach full physical maturity and successfully complete all required health testing and evaluations. This typically occurs between 10–24 months of age, with males often entering the program earlier than females, depending on the breed and individual dog.
Before any dog is considered for breeding, they must pass comprehensive health testing, including full DNA genetic screening, OFA evaluations (hips, elbows, patellas, and cardiac when applicable), and structural assessments to ensure they meet the high standards we maintain for health, temperament, and sound conformation.
We believe strongly in allowing each dog the time they need to fully develop physically and mentally before breeding. This careful approach allows us to make thoughtful pairing decisions that support the long-term health, temperament, and quality of the puppies produced in our program.
Until that time, our guardian dogs simply enjoy life as loved family companions in their guardian homes—growing up in a normal home environment where they receive daily love, training, and socialization.

FAQ
How long is a guardian dog in the program?

How often will he be needed for breeding?
Only as needed—typically brief appointments lasting just a few hours. He goes home the same day.
Do we pay anything for the dog?
No. Guardian families receive a male puppy or approved adult at no cost. Normal dog-ownership expenses are the guardian’s responsibility.
What happens when he retires?
Once neutered, he becomes your dog fully and officially—forever.
Can we travel with our guardian dog?
Absolutely! We simply ask for communication around travel dates to avoid conflicts with breeding plans.
